Faith in troubled times. | (Psalm 57:1)

When David was running for his life from King Saul, he found refuge in a cave and cried out to God in deep distress. In that lonely place he prayed, “Have mercy on me, my God, have mercy on me, for in you I take refuge. I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings until the disaster has passed” (Psalm 57:1). Though enemies surrounded him and danger was near, David trusted that God’s protection was greater than the storm around him.

Beloved, life often brings storms we never expected—trials that shake our peace, burdens that weigh down our hearts, and problems that seem too heavy to carry. In such moments we may feel afraid and uncertain about the future. Yet God invites us to run to Him for refuge. His presence becomes our shelter, His faithfulness our shield, and His love the covering that keeps us safe.

Like David hiding in the cave but trusting in God’s protection, we too can pray, “Lord, keep me safe till the storm passes by.” The storm may rage for a while, but it will not last forever. Under God’s care, we can find peace even in the middle of the storm, knowing that His hand will guide us safely until the skies are clear again.
